Desert Southwest: where innovation meets opportunity

By Ryan Browning – Sales and Product Manager – Deseart South West

The desert growing season has been busy and rewarding as I continue my dual role in Product Development and Sales across the Desert Southwest, including Southern California, Colorado, and Texas.

Since joining Hazera in this role, one of my main priorities has been building strong relationships across the agricultural and seed industry. Connecting with growers, dealers, industry leaders, and partners has given me valuable insight into local market needs while helping strengthen Hazera’s presence across this important growing region.

This season, we successfully completed our watermelon trials, gaining valuable hands-on experience in evaluating varieties and understanding grower requirements. At the same time, I have continued expanding my knowledge of other crops and commodities, building a broader understanding of the diverse agricultural landscape we serve.

Visiting trials in other regions and attending field days have also been valuable opportunities to see how varieties perform under different growing conditions and production systems. These experiences have broadened my perspective on variety performance and customer needs across the country.

Another key focus has been coordinating seed distribution throughout the region while maintaining close communication with growers, dealers, and industry contacts. Staying connected and spending time in the field have been essential to understanding local challenges, identifying opportunities, and providing better support to our customers.

Looking ahead, I am excited about Hazera’s continued investment in the Desert Southwest. The addition of dedicated research support in the region will enable us to focus more closely on product development, variety positioning, and customer relationships. This added support creates new opportunities to identify and introduce varieties suited to local growing conditions and grower needs.

As we prepare for the next season, I look forward to building on what we have learned, gathering further feedback from growers and industry partners, and continuing to expand Hazera’s presence across the region. The warm welcome from the agricultural community has been greatly appreciated, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead to bring innovative solutions to growers and strengthen our partnerships.

Together, we are building stronger connections, supporting growers, and creating new opportunities for growth across the Desert Southwest.
