Hazera; committed to constantly improving its radish varieties

Radishes of many different types, such as round red radishes, French Breakfast and Daikon types, are consumed all over the world.

Although the red radish is the leader, we now see consumers starting to experiment with different colored radishes as well.

Hazera is one of the main global supplier of radish seeds for professional growers. In the US market, we offer varieties suitable for the bunch markets, but also radishes suitable for pre-pack/cello markets.

The demand for specific traits varies from state to state and from grower to grower, depending on the area. As a result, Hazera offers an extensive radish portfolio, with varieties that match the demands of every grower and every customer.

Over the past few years, the hybrid variety Melito has proven to be very successful in the bunch market. It is a very smooth hybrid, with good internal quality, a bright red color and amazing size and shape uniformity.

For harsher growing conditions and for those looking for more tops, we offer our Donato and Danilo varieties. Both hybrids have shown a strong tolerance to the damage caused by Rhizoctonia and Aphonomyces. Additionally, both varieties offer good internal quality. Donato is a uniform hybrid that is suitable for both the pre-pack and bunch market.

Innovation

Hazera is constantly innovating with new genetics. A few years ago, we launched our first white hybrid, called Whitella. This summer we’re hoping to harvest a good seed crop that will enable us to fulfill the demands for this hybrid.

Another innovation that we are monitoring closely and is about to be launched, is our new purple hybrid Purpella. This variety is uniform in color, size and shape and has an attractive purple color and excellent internal white quality. We also expect to have bigger seed quantities of this variety available in summer 2019.
